Turning creator storytelling into a retail growth engine with Bio-Oil
Creator-led content is most powerful when it drives more than attention. For Bio-Oil, Front Row built a creator strategy that turned authentic storytelling into a retail growth engine. It created discovery, made product relevance obvious, and showed up in the moments where purchase decisions happen.
The goal
Front Row has partnered with Bio-Oil for 8+ years, supporting the brand across integrated marketing services as it scaled awareness and adoption. In 2025, the mission was to drive brand awareness and grow household penetration through creator-led content, and to prove that social-first creative could perform at scale.
Approach
The strategy started with a question: why does someone actually buy Bio-Oil? Front Row developed an Audience Motivator Map to define the key purchase drivers, then guided creators on which motivators to bring forward in their content. Six motivators were tested, each speaking to a different audience cohort.
The content itself looked like the platforms it lived on. Expecting moms shared get-ready-with-me routines, wellness creators folded Bio-Oil into gua sha rituals, and skincare voices took on stretch mark myths. Nothing read as an ad, which is what earns the first two seconds of a scroll.
From there, Front Row ran:
- Influencer and UGC content tailored for social-first performance
- A/B testing across Meta and TikTok to validate top-performing messages and compare creator formats (UGC vs. influencer)
- Retail-focused paid media activation to carry shoppers from discovery to the shelf and support household growth
Results
Why It Worked
Creators brought discovery. The motivator map brought relevance, so each piece of content spoke to a specific reason to buy. Paid media put that content in front of the right people at the right time, and constant testing showed which stories deserved more budget. Content and commerce did the work together, and the proof is in the watch time.
